Muslim Daughters In Islam

Daughters In Islam:

Women in Islam are given privilege for being women, daughters for example, in Islam daughters are considered as a blessing. Our Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) progeny continued through a daughter.  Therefore if a daughter is born in a Muslim house, then that man automatically follows the Sunnah of being a Father to a daughter, like our beloved Prophet (Peace be upon him).

Imam Sadiq (AS) said: “The Prophet (Pbuh) was the father of all girls.”

It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“Whoever has three daughters or three sisters, or two daughters or two sisters, and takes good care of them and fears Allah with regard to them, will enter Paradise.”

And in another Hadith:
“They will be a shield for him from the Fire.” (Reported by Ahmad and Ibn Maajah)

Then again in Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 2.499         Narrated by Aisha

A lady along with her two daughters came to me asking (for some alms), but she found nothing with me except one date which I gave to her and she divided it between her two daughters, and did not eat anything herself, and then she got up and went away. Then the Prophet (saws) came in and I informed him about this story. He (saws) said, “Whoever is put to trial by these daughters and he treats them generously (with benevolence) then these daughters will act as a shield for him from Hell-Fire.”

The Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) also lead the Muslims by example “One day he led his Companions in Prayer whilst carrying Umaamah bint Zaynab(ra) when he made rukoo’ he would put her down, then when he stood, he would pick her up.” (Reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

So the girls or daughters are a man’s ticket to heaven, a blessing and a hope to be forgiven on the Day of Judgment. But in this so called modern world still there are people who dislike a female child being born.  In the Noble Quran Allah says:

“To Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He wills. He bestows female (offspring) upon whom He wills, and bestows male (offspring) upon whom He wills. Or He bestows both males and females, and He renders barren who He wills. Verily, He is the All-Knower and is Able to do all things.” (Ash-Shura 42:49-50)

In many cultures, for example in India, the abortion rate of female children is very high. So for every Muslim man, there is a chance to enter the heaven if he takes care of his daughters, love them and provides them with necessary care, the act of disliking girls and resenting them is described as an act of the non-believers. In Quran Allah says:

“And when the news of (the birth of) a female (child) is brought to any of them, his face becomes dark, and he is filled with inward grief! He hides himself from the people because of the evil of that whereof he has been informed. Shall he keep her with dishonor or bury her in the earth? Certainly, evil is their decision.” (An-Nahl 16:58-59)

So evil, is that person who shows antipathy towards his own blood.  According to the report of the Government Hospital of Tamil Nadu:

‘Out of every 10 female babies that are born, 4 are put to death’.

But Quran prohibits such behavior of killing daughters, in the Holy Quran in Surah A’nam Ch.6, Verse No.151 Allah says:

‘Kill not your children for want of sustenance for it is Allah that will provide sustenance for you and for children’.

A similar thing is mentioned in Surah Isra, Ch.17 Verse No.31 which says:

‘Kill not your children for want of sustenance, for it is God that will provide sustenance to you and your children, for killing of children is a major sin’.

It is a major sin.  In Surah Taqveem, Ch. 81, Verse No. 8 and 9 Allah says:

When the female child is buried alive and when she questions you, for what crime was she killed.”

Here according to many scholars Allah puts fears in the followers hearts, fear the calling of the innocent child, fear the question you will have no answer to, for what reason was she killed?

In Sahih Hadith Muslim, Book 32, Number 6364:

Malik reported Allah’s Messenger (May peace be upon him) as saying: He, who brought up two girls properly till they grew up, he and I would come (together) (very closely) on the Day of Resurrection, and he interlaced his fingers (for explaining the point of nearness between him and that person).

So there is relentless love for daughters in Islam. It is stated in Hadith that angels come to the home of those who have daughters who are treated with love and care.

Ibn Maajah (3669) narrated that ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Aamir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: “Whoever has three daughters and is patient towards them, and feeds them, gives them to drink and clothes them from his riches, they will be a shield for him from the Fire on the Day of Resurrection.”
Classed as sahih by al-Albaani in Saheeh Ibn Maajah.

So in Islam daughters are considered to be a blessing. Whoever has daughters is lucky to have them.
